Whetstone May Day Parade and Gala
6th May 2002

The day was a huge success, yet again, despite the indifferent weather.
A big THANK YOU to the residents of Whetstone and surrounding areas who turned up to support the event.
After calculating income and expenditure, a final sum of £750 will be donated to Rainbows.
Many other charities were represented, and benefited by the Gala, including local groups like the Scouts, St. Peter's Bell Appeal, and of course the Blaby & Whetstone Youth Centre.
As a voluntary group, our aim is to build on this success, and make next years Parade & Gala even better.
Special mention must be made of the organizing committee members:

Debbie and Sue who did the vast majority of the administration, dealt with all the bookings, liased with all exhibitors, crafters, parade entrants, etc., and helped on the day to ensure that it was a success. THANK YOU.

Jeannine who visited most of the
businesses in the area and persuaded them to generously sponsor our designated charity - Rainbows Children's Hospice. THANK YOU.

Steve who organized the Parade, and ensured it went smoothly and safely. THANK YOU

Dave Palmer and Martin Taylor of the
Blaby and Whetstone Youth Centre who provided their vast experience of organizing such events leading up to the day, and worked extremely hard behind the scenes on the day. THANK YOU.

All the Stewards, programme sellers and stall minders who gave their time to make the event such a success - THANK YOU.

Last Years Event

WE HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE DAY.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of response for volunteer helpers the event planned for 2003 had to be cancelled.
However, we still have a small group of volunteers who, with a little support could be persuaded to revive the  WHETSTONE PARADE AND GALA
for 2004.

Do you know any local famous people?
Do you know any local entertainers?
Do you Know any crafters?
Do you have a vehicle of particular interest that could enter the parade?
Are you a member of a club or organization that could participate on the day?
All of the above is needed, and more, all you have to do is make a phone call:
(0116) 2751987 or e-mail
gala
We will do the rest!
